TECHNOLOGY
The technology platform established at Alphalyse is based on mass spectrometry, protein chemistry and bioinformatics. At Alphalyse these three disciplines are integrated in one single laboratory and linked by Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) developed in-house. Mass spectrometry At Alphalyse we are equipped with top-of-the line instruments including MALDI-TOF, MALDI-TOF/TOF and ESI-MS/MS equipment. The setup and use of these instruments have been optimised through the analysis of thousands of samples, enabling the best possible service for our customers. Protein chemistry These techniques span from protein handling, protein purification to chemical and enzymatic experiments. All techniques and protocols used at Alphalyse have been developed to optimise the analysis by mass spectrometry to reach the final goal; to extract the maximum information from each single sample. The protein lab is designed to run multiple numbers of 1D/2D gels, imaging, automated spot picking, digestion and sample preparation for MS analysis. Bioinformatics The main goal for using bioinformatics at Alphalyse is to be able to handle, access, analyse and to carry out interpretation of all the data generated in the laboratory. Bioinformatic experts design, store and use protein-, DNA- and EST-databases in-house to maximize the database search process and to insure confidentiality. We also use bioinformatic tools for predicting structure and function for genes and proteins. All instruments and work areas are connected and integrated into our LIMS, making it possible to transfer sample names and data from one instrument / work place to the next.
